Open Vacancy: Production Assistant

GBvi is a growing company, operating in a niche market supplying products and related services to projection display integrators in Simulation & Training, Entertainment, Museums, Gaming and other industries. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic team member with a broad practical background to be a key member of the company, to carry out a wide range of activities, from manufacture of optical parts through assembly of small-batch opto-mechanical products, assisting with demonstration display set-up and working out how to pack products for international shipping – and whatever is needed (within reason!) to help us develop and grow.

Full training will be provided and there will be excellent opportunity to progress.


General Role and Responsibilities

  • Inspect, assemble and pack opto-mechanical products.
  • Produce high-performance optical blend components, using bespoke in-house manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Support Engineering in assembly and test of products in development, production and trouble-shooting situations.
  • Operate and help to develop the Kanban stock control system to ensure smooth production flow
  • Drive efficiency improvement through process development and implementation.
  • Assist in facilities maintenance on occasion.

Specifics and day-to-day Activities, Including but not limited to:

  • Building and inspecting mechanical assemblies to Engineering drawings
  • Electrical/Electronic assembly – soldering, wiring and testing
  • Optical assembly – Optical blend mask production in a clean environment taking appropriate handling precautions
  • Projector testing
  • Maintaining accurate records and status updates within GBVI’s ERP system.
  • Set up for demos and trade shows (such as demo rig/stand design and build)

Anticipated training requirements:

  • Optical blend mask manufacturing processes
  • Company packing and shipping processes
  • Mechanical drawing interpretation and product assembly
  • GBVI ERP system and company processes
  • Other skills as required (e.g., electronic assembly, soldering, projector set-up etc.)

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Demonstrable literacy for documenting results and updating procedures.
  • Preferably GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Other relevant experience and background will be considered, particularly relating to practical hands-on skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel & Word)
  • Experience working with Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD
  • Use of measurement equipment (e.g., laser measures, calipers, SLR camera, multimeters)
