Work with GBvi
Mechanical Engineer (One Year Intern / Placmement Position)
Overview
GBvi is a small company that supplies high end optical parts for projection display systems into the Simulation & Training and Attractions markets. We specialise in optical blending, which is the process of designing and creating physical components to control the light paths of multiple projectors in such a way that ‘blends’ the images together by creating soft edges. Our blending systems are installed into a wide range of applications, including flight simulators (fixed and rotary-wing), driving simulators, planetaria and theme parks.
Optical blend masks require a range of supporting mechanics depending on the installation type, from simple bracketry to complex motorised actuation hardware.
We are looking for someone who will be comfortable designing a variety of supporting mechanics into projection systems to enable adjustable positioning of our products. Engineering challenges to design around include avoiding shadowing of projector light paths and motion compatibility. Also involved will be a development of projection display system understanding and use of GBvi proprietary design tools.
The successful candidate should be hands-on, someone who can build their own designs as well as write assembly and test procedures for them. The candidate will be able to apply analytical skills to assist in design and problem-solving and will need to be able to work well in a team and be willing to learn from the experience of existing Mechanical Engineers at GBVI.
Site work (travel abroad) may be required to aid with installations.
Since GBvi is a small company, from time-to-time everyone may need to muck-in and help with packing, shipping, assembly, etc.
A commercial NDA will need to be signed by the student.
